What is a Legal Executive?

A Legal Executive is a member of the Institute of Legal Executives.  There are about 22,000 members of ILEX and they are subject to the ILEX Code of Conduct. The entry qualification is 4 GCSEs .  The ILEX qualification involves a part-time course of study over a period of 4 years.  Legal executives usually specialise in a particular area of law, often probate, wills, debt collection & tend to carry out routine or procedural work.  They are sometimes called paralegals.  The ILEX website is here http://www.ilex.org.uk/
