Oaths

If you are giving evidence in court you will be asked to take one of the oaths below, or you may affirm.? It is helpful if you let the usher or court attendant know which oath you wish to swear so that? the appropriate holy book can be made available.

?No one should move or speak while a witness is taking the oath.? You should stay completely still and silent until the oath-taking is completed.

Christian Oath on the Bible

I swear by almighty God that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
Muslim Oath on the Koran
I swear by Allah that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Hindu Oath on the Gita

I swear by the Gita that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Jewish Oath on the Old Testament
I swear by almighty God that the evidence I shall give shall be the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.
